By all accounts the Winter Frolic was a huge success.  The management of The Blueboard Central Division of American Flyer Lines had to add a couple of extras to handle all of the passenger traffic coming into town.  Organizers of the event say that it was the best attended Frolic that we have ever had.  Once things settle down a bit they will be starting on plans for next year.

I was able to get down to the station when a few of the "extras" arrived, Including the Mersenne6 Special which is patterened after the well known Royal Blue.

Here are some pic from our OTTS meeting at Greg's layout.

A little change of pace this week.  Lionel Classic Series.  1:120 scale versions of the popular toy trains.

The F3 model in Baltimore & Ohio colors...

New York Central Hudson. Not exactly the 700E, though.

and the GP7 in Chessie System colors. A large variety of markings were avaiable in this series about 10 years ago.  Not sure why they chose this size, or when the series stopped.  1:120 is sometimes referred to as TT scale, but these models are slightly larger than the TT I have.

As promised,  here's my new layout, well start of it any how.

This is the tunnel section I did yesterday.  The 2 portals in the middle is gonna simulate traffic coming into Main street where square is gonna be.  On top of tunnel is gonna be snob hill, where all the high rich people live.  A angled road will lead to Snob Hill.

Seayakbill:

Great photos of those passenger cars; are they original postwar, restored, or a reissue?

Laz: wonderful, roomy, layout in progress! ...I am curious though, why the roofing paper?

Thanks, guys, for sharing.

Runtime, they are reissues by the LCCA that were manufactured exclusivly for the LCCA by Lionel. The entire set with add-ons was designed by Louie Caponi which includes the unique Western Pacific feather baggage car.

SEAYAKBILL,

15 lb felt paper first off for the simulated roadbed and second to protect the homesote from all the balast and other scenery if I want to rip up layout and make another one.  Just roll everything up minus buildings and toss out helps protect the homesote and all I aheve to do is roll out new paper and away we go.
