I'm considering a year round layout using it. Do any of you do the same thing?

I do. I have a church from Dept 56 that fits the time frame of my layout perfectly.

I also have some trees from Lemax and some of the smaller different decors.

I have a few items - basically our Dicken's Christmas village, complete now with snow. There's an old picture at http://condor.depaul.edu/~dmurphy/pictures.htm

We use LOTS of D. 56 on our layout and really enjoy the detail and uniqueness of each building. It's really gotten my wife involved with the scenery part of the layout which I really appreciate. The only negative is the size of the people but I'm working on that [:)]

Here's our photo album of what we've done so far.

You mean no one has the Dept.56 Lionel Train Store on their layout. We use ours on the Christmas layout under the tree.[:D]

Here's a picture of a Lemax model train store on the winter end of my layout:

I do, extensively with my under-the-tree Christmas layout, although my Krispy Kreme Doughnut shop may find a year-round place on my permanent layout. [:D]

I use Dept. 56 buildings on my Christmas layout (including the Lionel hobby shop). I have some Lemax trees and accessories that I will probably inorporate into my regular layout whenever I get to the scenery stage.

We also use a lot of Dept 56 and Lemax on our Christmas layout. Some of my family don’t understand why we have it set up from mid October until mid January. Maybe I just like having trains upstairs.
