Could you give a short rundown on LOTS? I don't know very much about it. Is it like TCA and NMRA? How big is the club? Dues? Sponsors? I have Lionel trains and I operate and collect them. I am just beginning and I'm a younger person. Would this be a problem with that group? Is this a Lionel company sponsored club? TCA and NMRA seem to be more like trade and business organizations and not too interested in train operating or hobbyists. Mostly older executive types. Didn't Lionel at one time have a railroad club? Do they still have one? Thanks. Hope to get some relplies.

Pease,

L.O.T.S. is a family orientated club devoted to operating trains.
They have close ties with Lionel and have permision to use their name and a ZW as their logo. They also have a convention every year in a different city and offer special Lionel cars to go with.

For more info please check out http://lots-trains.org/
They are running a special on their dues.[;)]

The 2004 convention was LOTS of fun! Had over 200 on Thursday evening's boat ride/get-acquainted party, including spouses and a few children. Lionel's Bill Bracy plus three other of their staff members were at the convention and they gave an hour plus seminar talking about Lionel and new developments. OGR and CTT were both represented. There were two huge O-gauge modular layouts (Chicago and Cincinnati clubs), as well as a smaller demonstration layout, and many dealers -- primarily with Lionel products (but including K-Line, Atlas, Williams and others). Good selection of prewar and postwar along with the modern.

Re Lionel's club, check their website for LRRC.

Hope you'll decide to join LOTS. Next year's convention will be in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area. Also, by joining this year you get a special 25th anniversary rate. And there's that beautiful SF diesel and two ore cars offered to members this year.
