I know that they are not to scale, but most, not all, have an articulated-self centering draw-bar arm.

That is a plus, along with some trucks having a spring ride and roller bearings.

Modern-era couplers
Posted by redwoodtower on Thursday, January 27, 2011 4:24 AM

Hello Comrades!!

has anyone noticed that the "Modern Era" coupler drawbars are just a bit longer that their Postwar/MPC/Kughn-era counterparts? I realize we are not working with exact scale models and less than "scale" (terrible word, isn't it?) curves, but it seems lke every modern-era car has Hydra-Cushion underframes/drawbars and it sets the space between cars noticeably further apart than the couplers of "old". Any comments; anyone tried to correct this? Just curious. Happy Railroading to one and all.
