KW power cord replacement
Posted by GG1_Fan on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 6:42 PM

Hi,

wondering what the best approach is to replace the power cord for a KW. Removing the top cover, it appears the bearing plate cannot be removed to provide clearance without removing some of the soldered connections. It looks like drilling thru some of the base plate rivets would allow easier access?

Thanks.

Unsolder as needed; it's not that bad.  Mark everything, esp. if you don't have a wiring diagram.

Sounds like fixing it via removing the bearing plate might be the easiest approach. After checking the rest of it, the two variable posts are putting out 20V, so we're good there, however the 'A' side whistle controller not working, 'B' side putting out 25V when hitting controller; also 'A' side directional button working, 'B' side not-any thoughts repairing those appreciated. I do have K-Line's hardcover repair guide but am still in the process of unpacking after moving, so haven't dug it out yet. :-)

Thanks.
