Hi,
First time posting on this board. After many years of wanting a Reading T-1, I found one on line in C-7 condition, but with many problems. The e-unit will stay in one postion, sometimes it will cycle other times nothing. Makes a nice display at times! It does not smoke! Have put fluid in , drained off the extra fluid, turned up the power with no luck. I can see the glow from the wick. The SOS does not work, nor does the whistle or bell. I checked the switch on the bottom of the tender. I'm using a MRC 270 watt pure wave transformer running TMCC in conventional mode for this engine. I can not find a engine or wiring diagram for this unit.
My question is : Has anyone else had simuliar problems with this engine and how did you fix it? Also has anyone change this unit over to TMCC or DCS?.
Thanks for help.
Hi TRAINMAN RON,
to the forum. I had the NYC Mohawk in that same era Lionel # 18009. Great runner! I also have the 18064 Mohawk with TMCC. I had this changed over by Train America Studios a few years ago to add cruise control. You can call up Lionel and ask about thier Electric Railroad boards that have Commander M, for cruise contro. I don't know if it will work in the T1 but worth a try?
Here's a site to order this stuff. I ordered here the man is a good guy he will stear you in the right direction.
