Standard 385E Looks New - Won't Pull
Posted by nbforrestrailbender on Sunday, January 16, 2011 6:36 PM

I have purchased a 385E (very nice) at an estate sale. Chassis marked TH 385 (cast) under cab. Fielded AC motor with blank brass plate between pickups. Chromed small wheels (over zemack). Run maybe once or twice. Stored on shelf.  Had to modify front truck to prevent derail on 23" radius. After pro lubrication, it will only pull 3 - 500 series freight cars on an LW 125 watt xformer (new track) . Any suggestions? Who was the manufacturer?

                    Thanks in Advance!

There are about a hundred reasons this could be happening. It is either Lionel or a commy mth repro. Sounds more like the latter as the motor pickup plate is blank. Need some pics and more information.

If you are looking for a rare train, ask i might surprise you with an asking price!!! A guy asked if i liked fast track, and i replied i used t-rail. He said eww that old stuff you bolt together???? Ignorance must be bliss!

Those oriental manufactures are equipped with DC motors.
