The wire from the center of the light socket goes to the center rail pick-up roller, and the outside of the socket picks up the common or power from the frame. Make sure you use flexible wire or it will give somewhere and you will have to re-do the wiring.

It sounds like you are trying to rewire the light? If so, the light bulb sits on a round disc with a spring under it. The wire passes up into the light housing and through the spring, then solders into the bottom of the round pad. The bulb then presses down against spring pressure and locks into the tabs.

Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the light of the2357 caboose.  The wire broke off and I want to rewire, but I don't remember how it is done and everytime I try something, it is just sparking.. so I know I am doing something wrong...

I am a rookie at this and I have the Lionel operations manual but there is no picture diagram showing the wire to the light.. how to soder, place the spring etc.

If you have something with a picture - that would be great.

thanks

ron
