Lionel 6-14196 (controller to controller)
Posted by Boscoed on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 2:00 PM

Hello. I'm building my first permanent layout using Lionel fastrack and Legacy control. I've read a few books on the command/control system, and although they mention 'controller to controller' connections, I'm not sure why that would be necessary.  I sure would like to understand why/when you would connect controllers, and as importantly, which controllers? Thanks.

Welcome boscoed,

Not sure exactly what you are getting at either but maybe you should read the instructions again and see if it mentions about a connector for TMCC or DCS hook-ups. TMCC is Lionel's older command control system and DCS is MTH's command control system. Another possibility is for the SC unit for switch control.

Thanks Lee. I did look at the instructions again and it simply refers to the connecting cable if you want to 'daisy chain' other TMCC products, I guess such as the SC. What I'm not clear about is the 'why' you would do that? I'll keep reading...I'm sure there's a good reason.

The "U" terminals carry the TMCC signal - so they must be connected - Command Base to SC-1 To SC-1 to SC-1, to SC-2 to SC-2 to common ground, etc.
