Front Coupler on Steam Locomotive
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, July 9, 2004 7:51 PM
Is it just me, or I'm the only one who would like manufacturers to offer a replacement front coupler? I remember a coupler of years ago Williams had a replacement couplers on their berks. I run 4-8-4 Northerns. I would love to push my rotary snow plow and other rolling stock. Would anyone else like to have a front coupler?

I agree, I'm so darn mad that I can't run steamers tender-first.

Lehigh Valley Railroad,

What manufacturer do you run? All of my Northerns are MTH. My last Northern cost me $1000.00+. I can't get too much more high end than that.

There were two companion articles, titled "Doublehead those steamers!", on page 86 of the January, 1999, CTT on how to add front couplers in ways that did not permanently alter the locomotives.

There was an article on the forum a while back on dummy steamers. We talked about how cool it would be to have two steamers running together.
