Anyone have a spare Marx wheel?
Posted by Darth Santa Fe on Thursday, January 6, 2011 11:02 PM

I just got a Marx Commodore Vanderbilt (prewar) steam engine in need of restoration, and one of the four drive wheels is falling apart. And when I tried to run it, gear teeth started flying off!

Does anyone have a spare geared wheel like this one? If not, does anyone know where I can get one (preferably cheap)?

Thanks for your suggestion. It's not listed online, but I sent an e-mail and he says he does have them.

I've already got the Commodore Vanderbilt completely repainted (not one of my best, but still pretty good), and the domes and smokestack nickel-plated and polished. Once the rest of the parts are in, I can have this thing done (my quickest restoration ever!)!

Glad this worked out. Actually Mr. Grossman has quite a bit of stuff that does not appear on-line or even in his printed catalog. Using e-mail or ye olde telephone has worked for me.
