At the MENARDS closest to me in Portage, Michigan there were only 2 SOO LINE Diesel Sets. Nobody else bought them, so I decided to purchase both since I like the Soo Line. The new RS3 operates very well on Atlas O track. The diesel horn sounds real. It can pull more weight than the single motored GTW GP7 that I got 10 years ago.
The Portage MENARDS is not a huge store, so they have less O Gauge items in stock. They did have 6 of the PRR Large Gauge Battery Operated sets on the top shelf.
If I had more time to drive further North, I would check the Kalamazoo, MI location on West Main, That is a much larger store and should have more items in stock.

That is a great price for a starter set. Good way to get one of the youngsters into electric trains.

I forgot to mention the Lionel steam sets number was 7-11172.
Modeling the "Fargo Area Rapid Transit" in O scale 3 rail.
On another mission inside Menards I wandered like I usually do to the toys section. My store still has 5 of the steam sets with the 0-8-0 switcher with tender, 2 cars and caboose. The dark red paper in front of the sets says "Unadvertised Special". Set marked down to $129.00 from regular price plus a $30.00 mail in rebate. Rebate comes back to you as an in store credit. I often spend at Menards so that would be no problem to me if I wasn't broke at this time. There is a limit of two sets per person, you only need one coupon for both of them. I would break up a set on ebay but I'm not sure how easily the engine, cars & transformer would sell.
The Soo Line diesel set is marked down to $189.00 with a similar $20 rebate (in store credit) to bring it down to $$169.00 plus tax. My store had three.
They have lots of the Menards flat cars with semi trailers and semi tractors in stock for $25.00 each.
There was one or two of the Hogwarts? sets in stock.
