Thank you. Why didn't I think of that?

If you can get the track off the board, stick a flat-bladed screwdriver into the rails at the ends of the sections and twist to spread the rails.  To restore the rail ends, put a 7/64 punch or drill bit (for O31) or 3/32 (for O27) into the railheads and pinch the web back together with long-nosed pliers.

Seperating track

Hello all,

I built a 8X12 O gauge layout in my basement a number of years ago. When I did it I had no plans to change it so I crimped every connection of the track. Now I can not pull them apart. Since I have become disabled, I am going to transform a 4X6 1/2 HO layout that is in my living room to a 4X8 O gauge that is in the Febuary issue of CTT . But I need to use some of the track from downstairs as well as my switches. How would you recommend for me to get my track seperated?

Thanks,

Bill
