I don't remember the date, but "Classic Toy Trains" Magazine did an article of the F-3 diesel, as being the most produced.

Don't forget one of the first to offer the F-3's, AMT, early fifties.

I agree with F-3 as K-line, Lionel, Williams, MTH, Rail-king(basicly a different division of mth) Weaver, Atlas O, Marx and bet there are more out there even. That have done it. For steam I think all of the above have also done a 4-4-2 atlantic ( I think thats what there called) so that would be my guess.
And would say GP-9's second in diesels

Agree F3s,,,lots of GPs as well. Steam would be Hudson types.

For diesels, it's got to be the F3. For steam, the Hudson in all it's various subtypes-- I'd say the J would be #2--

The Lionel F-3 type diesels have been in production in some form or another for over 50 years. Just about every year some O gauge electric train manufacture has offered it since the early fifties.
What real engine steam or diesel has had the most number of 3 rail O scale models made of it from different companies? I'm not talking about quantities of production runs. My guess would the the N&W J shrouded version: Lionel 027 version, Lionel scale version, MTH, Williams, Others?
