MRC O27 transformer problem
Posted by Locojunkie on Monday, December 20, 2010 2:44 PM

Last night I temporarily hooked up one of my lionel sets to the MRC 027 transformer to run my trains as I do every year for christmas for my kids. Except this year, when I hooked up the transformer, the locomotive took off at full speed even though I had the throttle set at zero mph. What in the world would make it do that? I tested more then one locomotive and each and every locomotive did this. Do I need to get it looked and is this a common problem?

I'll assume you are using a MRC Tech II O-27.  Make sure you are using the two terminals closest to the AC cord - the Variable AC posts.  The other two are 14 volts fixed voltage posts.
