I need help finding part for my Dad's 1938 American Flyer O Scale
Posted by GMSmith on Sunday, December 12, 2010 1:05 PM

I have the American Flyer O scale train that my father got for Christmas in 1938 and need to find an axle and pair of wheels for the tanker car.  The last time that I remember him setting it up was in the late 50s or early 60s.  We had discussed a few times in past years - when the grandkids were born and again when great-grandkids starting arriving - and he said it no longer ran.

He passed away this fall and I brought it home with me to see if I could get it running.  When I took it to the local model railroading shop (Southbound Trains in Franklin, TN), they spent 5 minutes cleaning and lubricating it and put it on their track and off it ran.

I don't see anything on the engine or cars that appear to be unique numbers at all.  The transformer has "1267" stamped in the top of it.

Can anybody tell me where to get the parts?  I have looked at several websites for parts but I don't know how to figure out which parts will fit this train.

Thanks
