I need help finding a single powered Lionel Premiere Santa Fe Diesel. I recently bought a non-powered A and B unit on ebay and simply can't find a matching powered A unit. The original set # is 6-14536 and was produced in 2002 and 2003 I believe. I can find the powered A and B sets, but never a powered one broken out from the set. The AA sets go for about $700 and that's too steep for me.
Another model number that would match it is the 6-24529. I know that would not make an exact set (by the numbers), but I'm not interested in re-selling it, so just finding a powered unit will be fine with me.
Also, if someone is interested in the non-powered A and B units I would consider selling so that I could get a full matching set. Here is their info:
Santa Fe F3 A Non-Powered 6-14590
Santa Fe F3 B Non-Powered 6-14591
It will just cost me more, but at least I'll have a set... Thanks for any help.
P.S. I rarely post here, but a "wanted" post I made November of 2009 got someone's attention a year later here in 2010 and I got the rare engine I was looking for... so it's worth a try!
If you can't find it on ebay/choochoo ect auctions I would look at some of your bigger train stores like Trainz, trainland, nicholsmith, Grzboski's, but again your looking at full price of the power unit if they have any broke up or close anyway
Life's hard, even harder if your stupid John Wayne

I've never seen that 'B' unit, but if it would match a postwar 2343 AA (screentop) I'd be interested. Maybe even if everything matched except the screens.

You could say it matches, but is a lot more detailed. The trucks, windows, roof vents etc are all much more detailed. If you need some pictures I could send some. But I'd really still like to find a powered A unit.
Thank you for your responses though! I'm going to try the stores mentioned above and keep scouring ebay.
jmkesler,
Those 'A' & 'B' Non-Powered units are really beautiful and then with the added detailing, makes them fantasticly real.
I was able to find a Non-Powered Lionel F.M. D.L.&W./Lackawanna diesel engine N.I.B., I'm not sure if it's sold separately, or as a 'Set' with the Powered unit, at Trainz, but fortunately the price was right.
I found two Non-Powered Williams (Not Bachmann-Williams) full 1/4", 1:48 scale, FB-1, E.-L. 'B' units, N.I.B., sold individually, at 'The Western Depot' in California and the prices were discounted.
I hope this helps.
Merry Christmas and a Healthy and a Happy New year,
Ralph
Wow! Thanks for the detailed response! I'm gonna check out those sights now and see what I can come up with. I do think i will have to probably sell the units I have. It just doesn't make much sense for someone else to be breaking up a set like that.... so you don't see it much. I believe the ones I purchased must have been a fluke!

Jeremy,
E-Bay has trains for sale from some people who buy certain sets of trains, break-up the set and sell off the separate pieces, at a SLIGHT profit.
You might want to call Charles Ro in Malden, Massachusetts: 1(781) 321-0090
You can also type in the brand name and item number on the Inter-Net and it might give a contact, which might have what you are looking for. That's how I found three wanted items.
GoodLuck,
You guys are really helpful. I'll call Charles and see if he can help me. I visited a local train dealer yesterday (The Train Loft in Winston Salem) and the owner told me he hears stories like mine all the time. You think you're getting a great deal but you find out there's a catch... The thing that got me was the seller i bought the pieces from said they didn't have the powered unit... but a day or so later they put up another non-powered A unit for sale with he same model number. I didn't buy it and now i think it has to have been the other part of the AA set, and they were just wrong about it being non-powered... One thing's for sure, its buyer beware on ebay. Thanks again.
I believe, when a power unit is inoperative, the buyer returns the item to the store where it was bought and the proprietor, if he deals with Lionel, may not have an authorized Lionel repair person, so the proprietor is unable to get Lionel parts quickly, though they can still buy Lionel parts.
As, a result, the Non-Powered units are sold at a discounted price, as is and resulting in a small profit.
There are people who buy up items that are separated from it's original set, at a discounted price and sell them off, for a small profit.
Once, in awhile they may advertise in 'Want Ads.'
Thanks Ralph! That makes sense. I feel a little better since I kept thinking the one i let go on eBay was "the one that got away....". I finally got around to calling Chrales Ro and didn't notice that it was 6 minutes after 5 here on the east coast.... Oops, have to wait until tomorrow. Thanks again for the tip.
If, Charles Ro don't have what you want in stock, then maybe he might be able to get it for you, or, as in Miracle on 34th. Street, tell you where you might get it.
It's worth a try!
Good Luck,
