when I was younger I use to run 2 different loops off of one 1033 transformer (90 watts) so you should be able to do it with your cw-80 I would think.

Running two trains on the same track does mean you have to keep your eyes on them. I have a New York Flyer which I run for me and I have a Thomas the train for my grandson. One day he wanted to see both run, so I tried it didn't have a problem getting them to run, except that little Thomas the train very soon was running up behind that bigger train going beep beep. Never thought about running two tracks off of one transformer but I will give that a try. Always learn something new everyday.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. Appreciate the quick response.
As long as the CW-80's overcurrent protection doesn't trip, there is no electrical problem.
The direction control simply shuts off the "transformer's" output voltage momentarily. So, if you are trying to run them on two different tracks, all you have to do is to interrupt the voltage to each track separately until each train runs in the direction you want. Any normally-closed momentary switch can do this for you. Or you can simply disconnect and reconnect the wire to the track to change the direction.
On the same track, getting two locomotives' directions synchronized is more difficult. If your locomotives allow you to disable the reversing function, you may be able to lock them both into the direction you want. Unfortunately, unlike electro-mechanical reversing units, the setting may not persist when you shut the trains off. But a bigger problem is that one train will probably eventually rear-end the other. Keeping this from happening is possible but complicated.

Can I hook two train sets to one CW80 transformer. I'm using fast track for both sets. The sets are O27 Polar Express and NY Central. I'm having trouble getting both sets to run in the same direction. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
