The light also pours out the bottom of my NYC 4-4-2, it's just the design. The trucks do turn easily around too. Other than that, make sure you keep smoke fluid in the stack, if it's the same as my 1990's NYC Flyer 4-4-2, they are a poor design and burn out easily because there's no on/off switch, at least not on the older ones, I don't know if they've changed that.

In those 4-4-2's, the front truck can actually be rotated either way. As long as you're running on around O36 or larger curves, it doesn't really make a difference. But for tighter curves just turn it facing foward.

If it's the 4-4-2 locomotive, it should be facing towards the front of the locomotive.

Yes it a 4-4-2 thanks. I don't know if something is broke or I might have put it together wrong, but I never noticed how easy it was to turn around like that. I did take it all apart the other day because all the light was on the tracks and none was actually coming out the front light. After taking it apart and not finding anything wrong, I had a heck of a time getting it back together again.

Thanks, JohnnyB

What is the correct direction of front truck in Lionel Christmas Train?

I’ve been letting my young grandson play with the Lionel Christmas train and he had it off the track playing with the wheels when I noticed that front truck can be rotated 360 deg. There is a V slot to allow it move with the track. My question is which direction it should be in, because I don’t remember if the V should be pointing toward the front or toward the back.

Thanks, JohnnyB
