Good question! I try to keep temperature and humidity swings to a minimum. It's surprising how much track can shrink or grow at the gap where my lift bridge is. I keep the humidity around 40-45% all year with the help of a dehumidifier. With your heat sources it may be hard to keep moisture in the basement during the winter months. We have a humidifier on our forced air furnace. The temperature is always around 70 degrees. I close our basement registers when our air conditioning is on since cold air finds its way to the lower level fast enough. I figure if you are comfortable your trains will be comfortable also.
Now finding a dehumidifier that will last longer than a year or two is a problem....
You should not have any problems in a finished and heated basement. Depending where you are located humidity could be an issue during the summer. I keep a dehumidifier running during the summer to pull are dampness out of the air in my basement.
