What you did is known as a 'factory reset'. If it isn't working after doing this then I would try to program a new eng ID and see if it resets. If it still doesn't then you may need to take it to service center. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I read the complete manual at http://www.lionel.com/media/servicedocuments/73-8030-250.pdf and the only instruction I could find about dealing with a program problem is on page 19. I can not find any instructions about how to do a factory reset. Please tell me which page of the manual the factory reset instruction is located. Thanks.

Have you tried a factory reset? The instructions on how to do this is in the user manual that came with the engine.

Lionel Reprograming problem
Posted by dcuste on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 9:08 AM

I have two Lionel 2-8-8-2 TMCC trains. One is a 6-38030 and the other is the 6-38065. They both had smoke problems and I was able to fix the smoke problems on them by reprogramming with using the recommended "74" code. Now they both have the same issue of not responding to the CAB-1 commands WSTL/HRN, BELL, BOOST, and BRAKE. I have tried using the AUX1, 3 start up sounds command and in fact all the AUX1 commands, but none of them will restore the commands that do not work. Is there a different reprogram code that I should be using or some other trick needed to get these trains start functioning correctly?
