Looking for suggestions.I have O gauge Lionel with Legacy. I have a 180 w power brick powering the track. All was running fine then the brick shorted out. Now when I power up all is fine until I power up any loco, then it shorts out again. Removed all rolling stock, same story. Just shorts out when a loco draws power.
Any suggestions on how to proceed to locate problem.
You may have to call Lionel and tell them and insist you need to talk to tech rep stating it isn't a part i need technical help. they try to prevent putting you thru normally. I'm not up on legacey as don't have it yet.

Have you tried removing the Legacy command control unit and powering up your loco? Power up your loco on another track without Legacy system and see what happens. Try each option seperately until you know for sure which item is bad.

Are you running a Legacy engine in conventional or with a Legacy command system? If the CW-80 is only shorting with the one engine then I would guess the problem is in the engine. Check the pick-ups, I've had occasions where one of the pick-ups was incorrectly installed and shorted on the frame when placed on the track. Also, on one diesel model when tested one of the spring contacts used for the removable access/roof panel was shorting on the body, it was one of the cast diesels.
