I think the next thing on my list to collect is a post war switch engine. Anyone have any preference. I am thinking a 623 or something similar.
I have a small layout with no grades so pulling power isn't a problem.
I think the 623 is a fine running engine, but I personally like the looks of the 624 or the 6250 better. I have enough black steamers, and prefer my diesels to have a bit more color to them.
Just my opinion of course,

All in that series are fine locos. Built extremely well & very reliable & smooth. 622/6220/623/624/6250 are all great(all switchers before 1955).

Thanks for both the responses. I had a "black" switcher in my youth but agree with the colors thing. I will see what is out there.
I run on O27 track and have found that I have to remove quite a bit of metal from those switchers to get enough coupler swing on curves. They look like they should be very agile; but looks can be deceiving.

Interesting. I do run 0-31 track but I have 6 switches that can be a bit bouncy. I think I would be OK.
