Flyer Brushes

Does anyone know if the typical PA9603 shouldered round brushes used in AC Flyer steam engines are interchangeble with the PA10778 brushes that were used in the DC version of the 332 and 342?  When I overhauled a DC 332 recently, I replaced the worn brushes with new PA9603 brushes, not knowing that this engine used the PA10778 brushes.

The brushes really should not matter, unless you don't have the proper tension against the armature. You need to have the proper spring tension to the armature or it will not turn or have a very strong blue streak when turning that means you have poor spring and brush tension.

The only other real concern is the length of the brush and the compsition of the brush; soft or hard lead.
