Norfolk &Western J Class
Posted by 8ntruck on Friday, October 29, 2010 11:10 PM

I was surfing on e-bay recently looking at N&W J Class locomotives.  Lots of choices and a wide variation in prices.  I've wanted one for a long time.  Maybe it is time to start shopping for one.

Who out there has examples of these?  How do they run?  Favorites? Pros & cons?

Thanks.

I've been watching Js myself. I'm a Postwar guy myself, but the 746s can be pricey. I really want to stay with USA made Lionel. I asked about the MPC 8100. Everyone liked theirs, and said it was basically a Postwar model as far as operiation and working on. I've found several on the bay, all under $400, couple new in the box as well. I'm leaning heavily towards an 8100, probably after Christmas unless a super sweet deal on a 746 falls in my lap.
