Layout hook ups with Lionel 1033
Posted by The wise young man on Thursday, October 28, 2010 9:11 PM

Hi

Sorry to keep asking questions I Just am such a novice at this i have no Idea,

I am about to hook up a layout with a 1033 (90 watt) transformer and I have 5 -022 Lionel switches, one crossing gate, and one signal to hook up, my question is that I have heard about hooking the fixed voltage plug to switches and sending power through them will burn out the motors, Is this true about the 022 I know that this happened to the super 'o' switches. If it does happen how do I prevent this. and with this set up I have all ground (accessories and track) in the ground bolt, and the track has the track bolt, and all other accessories using the second bolt leaving the third bolt unused, is this OK? is there a better one?

The 022 turnouts have a switch inside that shuts off the solenoids after the turnout throws; so there is no danger of burning them out.

There are 4 terminals on the 1033.  Left to right, they are U, A, B, C.  Connect A to your outside rails and U to your center rail.  Connect the fixed voltage plugs to C.  Connect other accessories between A and C.  Leave B open.
