Autumn in the Alleghenies brings out Chessie System's Fall Foliage Special. T-1 2101 (Railking) heads up this weekend's train.
Our passengers will board at the Western Maryland station in downtown Cumberland.
2101 passes MY tower as it pulls away from downtown Cumberland.
The head end has just passed "Red Rocks" as it enters the Narrows, as the tail end glides across Baltimore St and Viaduct Junction.
Headed into Eckhart Junction, on the west side of the Narrows, our train is passing under the old State Line bridge.
While I waited for the Special to return, a local, headed by WM 3576, rolled into town.
Our Fall Foliage Special heads back into town across the Cumberland viaduct.
Things are getting a little thin here on SPF. I hope that as the time for outside activity winds down we can all find the time to post some photos here. I know I always look forward to seeing the offerings.
Is there a possibility of having a round robin of cars again this year? I think I even have a car to send around.
In any case here are a few photos of Flyer O gauge motive power with electric outlines.

Tim,
That 312AC and 714 are beautiful. What is the date stamped on the inside of the boiler? My dad had a 312AC dated "OCT. 1949" and I was just curious if they are from the same run.
Here are some shots of the 332 that I bought last week on ebay. This is the DC version from 1949 according to Doyle.
After spending the afternoon and evening working on it, here is what it looks like now.
Thanks for the help Tim.
Ok, I can't remember how to post pics with this new software. I used the "Insert Media" button and pasted the link into it, but nothing showed. Can someone please help?
Jim: Thanks! I'll take a look a little later and let you know.
I upload pics to photobucket.com and save them into an album. Then I copy the IMG code and paste it into my post. Any 3rd party photo site should work.
Good luck!
Jim: I took a look inside the boiler to find a date. With a small penlight, I can see "APR" which I take to mean April, but the actual year is hidden by the field. Obviously I don't want to tear it down to satisfy our curiosities. It was probably made between 49 -52, as it is a 312AC. The underside is so sweet; all the original wiring, jack panel, field, armature, etc are pristine. While this piece is not mint, it's about as close to being mint as I have seen. It will get gently run. OBTW, it is definitely NOT a repaint. The man I bought it from at York is always there and prides himself on his quality items, many in original boxes and some sealed. Even if I didn't know him and his integrity, I can tell by looking at it that it is all original. It will be a part of my permanent collection. I used to buy distressed pieces and rehab them. When the stock market crashed, I sole everything on eBay. Now I am selectively buying original vintage pieces back in as good condition that I can find and afford. I'm done with rehabbing. I even sold my airbrush. Nothing beats pristine, IMHO. Thus, my roster will remain limited and selective. But it will be fun to come home with a quality souvenir twice a year.
Regards,
Tim, that is a spectacular engine. I see ir has the two spring trucks on the tender with AFL lettering plus 312AC and the sheetmetal trailing truck rather than the diecast. It is not for certain but likely it is 1949 production because of the AFL rather than AF on the tender, plus the 312AC on the engine. In later production the three spring tender trucks also started to show up. Really enjoy reading about your layout progress on your blog.
