I have an area on my layout where a single line would look great. I do not wannt a loop, just lionel bumpers at each end. Power source a seperate transformer.
Is this possable and if so is a wiring diagram avaible? I have VERY LITTLE experience wiring layouts and haven't found any info in the Klambach books I have on hand.
Any and all help or comments appreciated.
It's no different from wiring a loop. Are you perhaps looking for something to reverse a train automatically?

Normal 0 At the risk of hijacking Boonter's posting, I have thought of adding a non-loop trolley line with bumpers at each end. I would like to run one of the nice new trolleys available today and have an automatic reversing system. I don't want the trolley to hit the bumpers, just get close then stop and go the other way. I guess I need a circuit that will cut the power to the trolley long enough to operate the reversing circuit in the car's engine then restore the power to send it on to the other end and repeat this endlessly. Any suggestions on how to do that?

Bob, here my lack of knowledge about track circutry shows ! If I have a single run of track, open at both ends, with a wire lock on will the train/trolly operate ? I too want a trolly running back and forth, but will be happy with bumpers at both ends.
Yes. It will work as you describe.
May want to put that lock on somewhere near the middle of the run, so you get a nice even speed at both ends. Remember if you are using the bump and go trolley type, repeated bumps can loosen your track. So whatever track you use, may want to put a few screws down to keep it from coming loose.
