The list of diesel locomotives on page 31 omits the Rail King P40.
Peter Riddle's article on page 58 doesn't mention what is perhaps the most convenient way of running a small DC motor (like the Tortoise) on an AC layout. To run the motor in either direction, all you need is a pair of diodes, pointed in the opposite direction from each other, and an SPDT switch to select between them. The 1N4001 (or up) is a good choice. An advantage of this scheme is that the Tortoise doesn't have to be isolated and can share its return with the track. The voltage that the Tortoise sees is half-wave; but it doesn't care about that. This is the way I run the DC motors in my modern Lionel bascule bridges.
Beware of using the accessory output of a DC power pack, as Riddle advises. Even though the main output is DC, the accessory output is probably AC.
