Need help wiring fastrack switches in DCS AIU.
Posted by fireflan on Saturday, September 25, 2010 6:20 AM

I am trying to wire my fastrack switches into my DCS system.  The switches are part of large oval of track connected to the fixed input one on the TIU. Which wires go where and do I need to supply the switch with its own power supply?

Thanks

The wires from the Lionel switch to throw the direction go to the AIU. For your info, the AIU has NO power inside it, so you must supply power to it either from the track power or from the switch's source of power. The AIU would act more like a switch control lever that has the three wires going to it.

I don't know how the Fastrac switches work or how they get wired.

I know that the old 022 switches from the 1960's got the center rail power to the solenoid or from the constant voltage plug. The switch controller worked in tandem with the outside rails, so the three terminal wires at the switch were either green, center(outside rail), red.
