kline operating milk car and the legacy system
Posted by nomthever on Friday, September 24, 2010 9:50 AM

does anyone out there know if you can operate the kline milk car using just the train link in legacy?

the directions in the manual tell you how to set up the cab two to operate differant type of cars but nowhere does it tell you what kind or type of cars it will operate . if anyone can help with this please do. thanks.

I have DCS and all I can do is operate differant locomotives, not operating cars. You must have a reciever installed for the system you want to operate it from. Not sure if TMCC or Legacy will control operating cars like you want to do.

K-Line(before the Lionel takeover) had a seperate remote control that operated differant things from it and you might need to buy that specific remote control to operate your K-Line operatring car.

It does say what types in the new manual, which Lionel has yet to post the PDF version of online.

Crane/Boom Car
Freight Car
Hot Box Reefer
...

The car has to be addressable as an ENG, and I don't think the milk cars can be.

I believe you will need to install a "mini commander" from the Electric RR.  I have used these with great success and they do not need a lot of room but I need to add that I do not have the K Line milk car so I can not say for sure.  They are a great product at minimal price.
