Hello Forum,
Does anyone know what years Williams offered their engines with the horn only and when they added True Blast I and True Blast II.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the True Blast I and True Blast II were actually plug in modules. If that is the case, can I upgrade a Williams unit that has horn only to True Blast II?
Thanks,
Bernard

On the www.Bachmanntrains.com website there is a parts section where you can get Williams Trains components.

Bernard,
The only way to upgrade to True Blast 2 is to buy the new True Blast 2 horn & bell unit and install it either yourself or have somebody install it for you. To install the new TB-2 unit you must remove the old horn unit completely and install the new one, sorry NO upgrades available on this one!! You may not always be able to install the True Blast 2 horn unit in a small shelled diesel like a GP-9 or GP-38.
There is NO plug-ins for the True Blast 2 horn unit on older circuit boards with the Williams engines. Only the newer circuit boards have the plug-in for the True Blast 2 horn unit and most engines already have the horn unit installed from the factory.
Also you will need a newer transformer like the Z-750 or the Z-1000 by MTH, or an Atlas transformer, that have both horn and bell buttons. Do not use a CW-80 with a Williams engine that has True Blast 2 horn as it may cause the engine and horn unit to act up.

Thank you very much for the info. I think what is needed to do the conversion is outside of my comfort zone:) I will leave well enough alone and leave the engine as is.
