Cutting Lionel Fastrack

Does anyone have any tips for cutting Fastrack?  I'm looking to create my own filler pieces in order to save some money.

There is a Fastrack group on Yahoo that will be able to help you out. I'm pretty certain I saw photos on it about cutting Fastrack.  It is possible to cut Fastrack, but it is not as easy as cutting basic tubular track.

If your layout is not real small, you may not need to cut the track.  FasTrack is surprisingly forgiving if you fiddle with track lengths.  The geometry does not have to be exact to work well.

I did this about two weeks ago. I used a half section and cut it using a dremel style tool.  It was rather easy.  It was a little tough getting the pins out. You may have to cut the pins and enlarge the openings where the pins go in.. Very simple project

Thanks for the advice.   I decided to seperate the track from the ballast.  Pretty straight forward but you have to be careful unbending the tabs that hold the track to the ballast.  Each tab has it's own slot so if you bend it to far back it's hard to push it out.  Once the track and ballast are seperated I cut the ballast with a band saw and the track with a dremel.
