1. Interesting that K-Line by Lionel is still in this catalog2. The new Atlantics looks very impressive3. The WM GP7s... have to think about these vs upgrading my existing WM PS-1 locos to TMCC4. There are NO Lionelville buildings. I find this very disappointing - is this because of that lawsuit over MTH's buildings?5. The price for the ZW-L has been set at $799.99 OUCH!!!! BUT it does have 720w of power built inside the housing. Pretty impressive.6. They are now offering the Classics line with the OS2 speed control. When I ran my C&O 4-6-0 Ten Wheeler in conventional mode the speed control did not work... wonder if I missed something7. Nice to see Lionel bringing multiple diesels of the same roadname with different numbers. MTH has been doing this for years, so nice to see they are bringing their production up to 21st century standards. 8. Still no C&O Yellowbelly in Legacy.
Good morning all,
I did a quick review. There are a couple of Alaska cars I will get. I was kind of hoping for an expansion of the "Scout" line of cars, but the ones listed in Vol. 1 have not shipped yet so perhaps it is too early to tell.
Keep on training,

The buildings only end up in the first catalogs.
The High-End Locomotives are made in quanities that are low and prices that are high, so individuals only purchase one to two powered models each year. That helps keep a Lionel model railroader focused on a few road names.
Traditional O Gauge CSX, BNSF, and NS sets and cars are being made that complement what Atlas O's Industrial Rail Line offered in the past year. The markings used for CSX, BNSF, and NS in the Traditional O Gauge line this year are the most appealing versions or are more attractive than the real cars.

It has some good stuff. I love the Presidents Boxcars and the Strasburg add ons.But other than that it is just to expensive. I would love to pick up a 4-4-2 PRR 460, but that much for just a small engine! And I could just not afford a 261.Then again, I have a 3rd Rail NW 4-8-0 on order but still...Anthony
I was impressed at how much was new in a Vol 2 catalog. I was depressed by the prices. I don't see this senior citizen buying those engines even though I like them. But then I don't think their market is aimed my way either. Lots of nice new toys.

I was hoping for a reasonable price on the "UP BSA E44" but almost had a coronary when I saw an MSRP of $849.99 .

Just as it was with the vol 1 catalog, (from witch I only wanted some rolling stock)only things I may order are the BSA cars. I'm sure that the 261 S-3 will sell out, i'm just not interested in most of the railroads north of Virginia. I was also not surprised at the list price for the new ZW-L.since it's twice the power of a Z4000, i expected twice the price. Of course the street price will be around 699$ or so. I'm sure the Lionel faithful will buy a whole bunch of the items in this catalog.

I think the Canadian Pacific Railway passanger carriages are absolutely beautiful. We Canadian hobbyists don't see much in the Lionel Catalogue aimed at us, so it's nice when Lionel serves a generous portion in its "wish books." The CNR and the CPR inevitably recieve the most attention, although there are countless other Canadian railways to be reproduced in miniature: the Canadian Northern Railway; the Grand Trunk Railway; the Midland Railway...the list is endless. It would be interesting to see a long-gone Canadian roadname on an SD90MAC. Lionel has done this with the New York Central Railway already.
I like the resin brick switch tower and other buildings. I'm impressed with the UP double-diesels. About the only thing that interests me is the new 'butterdish' milk car. I like them.

What I like the most are the Soo Line SD60 Diesel Locos and the Soo Line PS-2-CD Covered Hopper.
With MTH, Lionel, and Williams all previously releasing the UP Heritage diesels in large numbers is there still enough support to warrant another release ?

I'm very interested in the 261 from my home grounds of years gone by.

I like the transparent milk car and caboose, I have the Lionel transparent F-3's so this will probably be the only items I order out of the catalog.
I only buy Lionel [nostalgia?] and I model the Norfolk Southern and it's heritage lines, so I saw about 3 years worth of train budget in this catalog. I really like the legacy products as they run great. There are a lot of nice cars in this catalog, and our local train store supports Lionel very well.
Well, I just called the local Lionel shop (Sommerfeld's Trains) and asked them to order a New York Central DD-35A for me. That should take care of the old train buying budget for the year... or maybe 2011 or maybe 2012.

Very nice choice Bob. I still haven't had a chance to view it very closely yet. However, I still have the MTA R30 set from the 2009 catalog on my Christmas wish list this year.
