MTH Repro AF Coal Loader
Posted by Hudson322 on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 2:55 PM

I just got a MTH coal loader as a gift.  I'm very unhappy as to how it works.  Has anyone else been displeased with this unit?

Port Lines offers a replacement pulley for these MTH coal loaders that speed up raising and lowering the bucket considerably if that is why you aren't happy with it.

It runs very slow and sometimes when I'm lowering to pick up more coal, it lowers into the hopper and not back down the ramp into the coal pile.  Thanks for the advice.

You definitely want to replace the drive pulley.  The performance will improve dramatically..  Make sure the pulleys and wheels in the trolley. are free wheeling so the bucket moves out from the tower before descending. Original coal loaders will do the same thing, (lower the bucket into the hopper) if the trolley sticks or derails.
