One of the new features is the ability for readers to post photos in the reader photo gallery (Community pull-down menu, then Reader Photos just below Forum and above Events). We just tested it out and uploaded an image by Kent Johnson.
There is a 500K size limit and all images are moderated, so there may be some lag time in approval. You pick the image off your desktop and load it.
Images posted in the forum still require your off-site hosting, but use the film icon to the left of the happy face icon, and you paste the URL directly into that spot.
