CTT 'Events'
Posted by EIS2 on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 12:10 PM

The CTT 'Events' section is now listed under 'Classified Advertising'.  It seems woefully lacking in content.  Since it is in 'Classified Advertising', does that mean that clubs have to pay to get their event listed?  Maybe that is why there are so few entries.

CTT used to have an 'Events' section that listed events by state.  The 'Events' in the October 2010 issue was less then a page in length, even though the heaviest train show schedule is approaching.  When CTT had a regular 'Events' section, it covered multiple pages.  I, for one, would like to see the old 'Events' returned.  I use it to plan my travels.

Events are listed on-line for free.

Go to the gray trains.com banner at the top of this page, go to the resources pulldown, and the events section can be accessed through there as well.

 BOB,

Thanks for the link.  I didn't know the events were listed online.  It would be nice if they were grouped by state as they used to be in CTT.  Maybe your revised website will accomodate that.

You can search by state right now.

On the left hand side of the page there are search options that let you search by date, state, and country. Look for the second box on the left with BROWSE in a black band,

You can also use category filters (such as Day Out with Thomas, Garden Railways, Operating Exhibit, Toy Train Show etc.) and by date such as "This Weekend" "Next Weekend" and several periods up to the next 12 months.

Since clubs and promoters can enter this themselves, it changes all the time.

 Bob,

Thanks for the heads-up and the tutorial on how to use it.  It works great.  Now I don't have to buy CTT anymore.  Just kidding...  It is a great magazine.
