A few shots around the S&Y RR

Seayakbill: Nice inventiveness and whimsy!!!!!!
GUYS: Here's a different spin on Sunday Photo Fun. I had a rock ledge made out of broken ceiling tiles that I was gonna throw away, but then I thought, "Oh, what the heck!". So I cut it up with my Sawzall and propped it up around an old out-of-scale Flyer Log Loader that I want to use, yet hide until I am right up next to it. Okay, admittedly this will take quite a lot of refinement to make look good - including some plaster and foam, etc. But it's a start. I'll need to build a mountain under, around and partially over it and give it all a new paint job, etc. This is a peninsula for a siding for my layout that is under construction. I'll load up logs, then send them off by rail to an Amish community to make into lumber. I'll also pick up cattle and barrels of cider from that community for other places. So, have fun laughing at the pics and let's see how this goes as I work on it!

Love your layout, Bill T! That AEC/Reactor stuff is awesome too
Tim, good idea to salvage all that work. How does the log loader get it's supply of logs though? Gonna have a log flume coming into that area or something?
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Great photos Bill.
Tim, The "governator" would be proud of your recycling efforts, good work.
No new train photos to show, however we are in the "planning stages for halloween. The munchkin, grampa's train buddy, is really into the halloween layout I do in the garage every year. Friday he insisted on displaying some of the new Lemax stuff that came in earlier in the week.
But his fav was this ghost I picked-up at BigLots.
It is about 3ft tall, sound activated and runs back and forth on a 25ft nylon rope while making all kinds of sounds. It will be stretched from our balcony to a tree so it crosses well above the sidewalk. Might have to figure out how I can hide some blacklights so it kind of glows.
Remember the Veterans. Past, present and future.

Brutus: Thanks. Good point by you! I'll need to drill and "blast" a road out of that rock for log trucks to supply the Log Loader so the "Big Hand In The Sky" doesn't have to do it.
Thanks again!
Local Businessman Does it Again
As some of you who visit SPF with regularity know - Nils Jameson, the owner of Wausau Widgets has a reputation for cutting edge technology and business ventures. Some folks think he is looney while others think he is a genius. Well, over the the last few weeks Nils has once again set the old guys down at the coffee shop talking and scratching their heads.
The local grocer had been having difficulty getting fresh watermelons, and one of the local churches was having its annual summer festival complete with a seed spitting contest. There was a serious possibility that the festival with its contest would have to be canceled, or corn kernel spitting would have to take its place. Nils heard about the shortage of melons and called some of his contacts in the deep south. Within a few days a boxcar appeared on a siding down at the freight station.
And sure enough it was filled with watermelons

NWFlyer,
Here's some prewar Lionel running on my layout. I just started picking up prewar; this could be a problem :D
Have a great week,

I see SPF hiatus is over. Thanks for posting pics everyone.
Seayak - I really like your collection of engines with north-west flavor.
Northwoods - Thank you, Sir.
Born and raised in the Puget Sound area, spent 40 years there before I was transfered out East. Had a number of relatives that worked for the Northern Pacific including my Grandfather that worked in a Northern Pacific coal mine.
Seayak - My uncle retired off the Wishram Division from BNSF. You'd love the jacket he gave me.
Fifedog, most of my relatives retired from the Northern Pacific during the transistion / merger into the Burlington Northern.
BillT, JW, NW, DougDG, and Tim.........great pics, great iron, and a labor of love in its infancy! I was going to catch up on 9 days of reading but fortunately got sidetracked for quite a while looking at your pics. Thank you for sharing these.
