I wouldn't worry too much about if the figures are reproductions. The whole piece in original condition is not worth a huge amount anyway. They are fun and should be enjoyed. For what its worth, Robert Grossman who advertises with CTT magazine is a great resource for all things Marx. Very nice guy and he even sent me a diagram of my handcar.

Red handcar came with blue and gray men
Red handcar also came with yellow men VHTF
Brown (later version 1956-1974) handcar came with blue and gray men
Since some figures suffered from "rot" I believe it is acceptable to use repro figures which are almost identical and shouldn't affect the value of the piece.

Just bought a marx handcar today for $20 at the flea market. its in great shape and clean. How do access the motor for cleaning? Also, is there a way to make sure the 2 men ain't reproduced pieces?
