I can't get the TA EOB board that I FINALLY installed to program

Hello, everyone! I haven't been on the forum in ages for various reasons that I won't bore you all with. Way back in early 2006 I posted about installing a TA EOB in my then-new Lionel Class J. Well, I did buy one but I was chicken to go cutting things, so it sat in its box for about 4 years! Finally I installed it two weekends ago. I call the installation a qualified success because I can't get it to program. I need to set the master chuff rate but the EOB board doesn't respond to the ENG ## DIR AUX1 AUX1 AUX1 6 5 sequence. I don't get the whistle sound and when I get to pressing the #5 button the loco enters into the shutdown sequence every time. The only programming I've been able to do is to enable the 4 chuff-per-revolution setting. Currently the drivers rotate about 1 1/4 revolutions for 4 chuffs - better than the two-per I had before, but not right. Also, when in reverse, the loco will not keep moving unless I continually spin the speed control knob on my CAB-1, until it's up to a certain speed threshold at which it will continue moving on its own. In forward it acts as I would expect. On the plus side, the Turbo Smoke unit I installed at the same time solved my poor smoking issues once and for all, and gives me all the synchronized, puffing smoke I can handle. I know, I know, I should've installed the EOB board when I got it and while TA Studios still sold their products to individuals, so I could've gotten help from them. But I didn't, and If anyone has been through this with their EOB board and is willing to share their solution, I would be extremely grateful. Best, Joel

Joel,
Have you tried calling or emailing TAS? If not you may try that route as they may still help you. From my experience they were a top-notch company that went well out of thier way to help people. I had them install an EOB board in a Lionel Dockside Switcher and it works great!

Brent, No, I didn't try. I figured that since they no longer sell to consumers, I was out of luck and needn't bother. In a web search just now I was unable to find a website for them, so I do not know how I would contact them. Clearly they have taken themselves (or been taken) out of the aftermarket. Joel
