I live in the heart of NASCAR country and I also spend a significant amount of time above the Mason-Dixon Line. Comparatively, the NASCAR sport seems to be largely regional on the surface of things. Another aspect I have noticed is that preexisting models are not exactly flying off the shelves, as more than quite a few are deeply discounted.I understand diversification and Lionel has tried this before, but one cannot help but wonder what is going on at Lionel. Are they trying to create a hedge against a waning market, or as an experiment, do they know something in their proprietary demographics that we do not? Can't help but wonder, not to be paranoiac about this.  The official announcement that K Line was absorbed and then killed off due to manufacturing contracts affording a price\point advantage weighed against presumably, their projected sales figures, may be an indication that seems counter-intuitive, that the market is waning. I just hope they sell the parts inventory to someone who does something with it. As for NASCAR models, why do I think they are going to be pricey? Again as a observer of the market for pre-existing models already licensed, this seems counter-intuitive.

Nothing is more fairly distributed than common sense: no one thinks he needs more of it than he already has.

How well did the NASCAR trains do? I did not buy any of those because they were not really my interest. That does not mean that they were not popular, of course.

Dealers been blowing out the sets and expansion packs at rock bottom prices for 2 years. Bought both of the sets for $50 each last year, expansion 3 car rolling stock sets have been on the Bay and at York for $29. Either Lionel manufactured a few boxcar loads too many or they just didn't sell for the listed prices.
