Lionel & Nascar hybrid?
Posted by Boyd on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 12:32 AM

The posting about Lionel and Nascar teaming up got me thinking. If you get enough of these Nascar fans into Lionel stuff we will be seeing Lionel sell a set with 2 trains going around a banked oval and the trains bump each other and sometimes get airborne. Burning the tires at the end of the race might be harder,,,, but making the smoke,,no problem.

With NASCAR product on the downturn could be a tough sell to those folks. Those folks apparently did not bite on the first round of NASCAR trains by Lionel. Which was great for us folks looking for new product on the cheap to repaint in more traditional railroad colors.

One of the things I noticed in the announcement was that the original company that sells these diecast vehicles will still be selling them at the racetracks--- which is where most of the people that buy these would buy them--- I used to see the diecast cars on QVC , I haven't lately----

Hopefully Lionel will use this to pull people into the LHS and not into Wally World. With the current economy the little guy could use an exclusive draw.My LHS also sell slot cars and something like this could help move inventory.

Lionel tried nascar sets a few years ago and it was a big flop I think this time there just going to be making the cars for the licensee

I had not heard that Lionel was going to " make " the diecast cars. Where will Lionel's manufacturing plant be located, USA or China ?
