Prewar T-rail

 I recently found out about this "t-rail" track on eBay. I wanted to know if anyone knew anything in-depth about it.

"T Rail" track is prewar. It came with the Lionel scale sets which included the 700E. The straight sections are very hard to find and are very expensive. It requires fish plates, just like the real trains do, in order to put it together. These are usually lost and it is rare to find them with the track as well as the tiny nuts to hold the fishplates in place.

That's about all that I know about it. I have some that came with my prewar 700E passenger set but I have never put it together.

There is one person who seems to know lots about it and sells it but it is quite pricey. It is Code 250 (1/4" tall) steel rail which is basically the same height at O27 tubular rail but obviously with a realistic profile. For the price of the stuff you could save money by simulating it by handlaying with that rail size.

If it is as great as the t-rail website said it is, looks like Lionel would have brought it out again.

 I don't know about that. The reason being that they require those screws and rail joiners and such. I doubt that Lionel would reissue such a system again. The same goes for super O.
