I have never taken the tour, out of my price range, but our local PBS station carried a segment on it last winter. They didn't really give a review but the travelers that they talked with all enjoyed it. As far as the lines that they use they are ALL freight lines, the main lines are more than likely in good shape but who knows about some of the socalled feeder lines where maintenance may not be as often as it shoild be. The cars that they were using all appeared to be in fabulous shape having been recently rebuilt. Besides as long as it stays on the tracks and the food is good what could be better.
I'd like to take the Canadian National from coast to coast one of these days, that would be way cool. [:D]

does anybody here have any first hand experience with this train and the tours? i am very intrested in the "ride." a 2001 review said the train used "dilapidated" freight tracks and the ride was very bumpy, noisy, and slow.
