Advice needed on wiring Gargraves switches.

Not sure but I would suspect melting the plastic as well if you soldered a wire to the rails. I would recommend using a track section about three inches after the switch for the non-derailing features, about four inches long, as my Gargraves 042 switches have plastic piece that is on the outgoing side of the switch for both rails. From my observation if you cut the rails on the switch you will lose electric power for the outside rail, causing your locomotive to stop, so use a track a few inches after the switch for the non-derailing feature.

I have Gargraves track with wooden ties, so that might be more suitable to solder with.

The outside rails are stainless, which I suspect is difficult if not impossible to solder wires to. There are 2 short sections of outside rail which are not attached to anything. Does anyone wire to them?

The Inside rails are not attached to each other. Is is worthwhile to wire them together? I am afraid I would melt the plastic ties if I tried soldering them. Do you use the special Gargraves connectors for that? Or just leave them as is, depending on the tracks that are attached to the switch to supply the voltage?

The wiring of the non-derailing feature looks simple enough, just cut a gap in the attached track about 2" from the switch and run a wire to that.
