A grade crossing is where the railroad crosses a road for automobiles. If you are around trains at all, you can hear the engineer make the -- -- . -- signal. Bruce Baker

Standard Whistle approching a Grade Crossing (on a real railroad):

One long blast, a second long blast, one short blast, a third long blast to sound until the locomotive enters the grade crossing.

I was curious to know if anyone out there ever heard of the term grade crossing being used to describe how a whistle sounds on a o gauge steam engine or if there are any sound files out there that i could go to so i can listen to one?
