I think somebody does it, the new O guage trains (steamers) seem to have them installed. And the parts finder @ Lionel has a lot of them listed with prices under $10.00. I just need to know which ones might be easy to adapt to Postwar and then install them. It won't be real easy, but it's better than "yard work" or other weekend chores.
Are you proposing to put LEDs in your classification lights? That would be very difficult, I think. The whole light is only about the size of a 3-millimeter LED. You might be able to do something with a light pipe, keeping the LED itself inside the boiler.

Hello out there, "Top Bix" here;
Wondering if anyone out there has used some of the modern replacement (subject) parts from Lionel and/or MTH on any PostWar stuff? I have a few steamers with broken classification lights and am thinking of installing some modern replacement items. These are engines that I'm working on have lost all "collectable value" anyway. I'm going to convert one to a solid-state "E" unit, so I thought, why not go LED also. Any "Lessons Learned" out there? Thanks
