Smilehello i finally got a low priced steeple cab engine (even though european prototype) and i am very excited to get it.  it is 3 rail and should run with lionel.  do these engines have reverse?  how do they run?

We've reviewed a handful of ETS products and we reviewed the ETS Steeple Cab in the Oct 2005 issue. At the time they were trying to brand their products with the name Semafor.

All of the ETS gear runs smoothly, like a fine clock. Pulling power may be a bit lighter than we've become accustomed to, but the prototypes they derive their trains from wouldn't have been pulling 100-car coal trains, either.

Here is a link to the subscriber video (keep in mind this was from the stone age of our video use).

As a reminder, we have a free pdf download of an index of reviews here:

thanks bob, it was the ctt article that made me interested in the first place.  the steeple cab i am getting is the little european 4 wheeler, i wish i could afford a baldwin westinghouse, but cant.  i am happy with the one i am getting.  by the way i just got the new issue of ctt and it is superb.  thanks.  navyjack
