My wife is not crazy about my trains but she would never tell me"Not Today" because my response would be"Yes today" and go down to run them! What is her problem with the trains?
I am fortunate that my wife tolerates my electric train hobby. she is very supportive with all my purchases and at times will question me why I only bought one of a specific item. She does attend one national convention with me each year but says she only will use one weeks vacation for a train activity after that I am on my own.

thanks you for the help on this. maybe i need to put a little more time into her too and not spend 6-8 hours on my layout.sometimes i get so cought up in the train room and dont pop out til dinner.once again thanks sometimes u need someone tell u how it is that understands your feelings towards trains.
Marriage is a blessing and should be treated as such. Explain to her that this is a harmless hobby (this is of course counting on your not spending the food money to purchase your trains). Ask her when would be a good time that you both could spend a little time in your own hobby and also make a point to make time for you together. Step up and help around the house. Show her that you really appreciate her and Love her. It is tough to imagine a woman not allowing you to play with your trains if you give her the respect the relationship deserves.

I am also fortunate as my girlfriend loves model trains. Her grandpop, father and uncles were all model railroad enthusiasts.
Sorry. I erased this entry. I violated my own rule to keep my opinions to myself.

Well my neighbor, Josh had the same problem. I suggested that he tell her to bug off and leave him alone or he was going to replace her with a newer model. The funeral is Thursday.

True, but that need not stop us from giving marital advice without the quality.
I would tell the little lady to buzz off. How long have you been married, big dog?

Sounds like you're dealing with a control freak.
Next time she starts looking at her favorite detergent drama, grab the remote, punch the TV off and tell her, "Not today." Then make your point that there are more diplomatic ways of assuring 'together' time or getting essential family jobs done. A flat, "I'm telling you what you will do," proved to be a guaranteed war-starter in my humble abode, which is why my wife and I sorted that out about half a century ago
If you really ARE dealing with a control freak, I would suggest counseling.
