There is one on page 52 of Model Railroader 102 Realistic Track Plans (How to Build Realistic Layouts no. 5).  It came out in early 2009.  It is HO on an 8x20 foot layout.

Pat, Sign - Welcome to the forum.

Using the Search Community function, just to the right of the screen, I inserted the term "coffee table layout" and increased the serach to the entire site. There were enuff hits to keep you reading for a quite a while, if it were only a couple of references I'd have posted a link but it will take some time to sift the wheat from the chaff.

Actually, I believe this was a article series that was in O-Gauge Railroading.  There was a guy who had made a base structure out of extruded foam that was painted. You could change the buildings and flora to match the different seasons.

I have moved the thread to Classic Toy Trains in view of the mention of CTT.  If it is an error, please send me a PM and I'll move it to Model Railroader.

I suspect you'll have better luck with your question over on the MR forums.  While many of us here are also modellers, our main focus here is on the 12 inch to the foot stuff.

Hi, I think in the last year or two, CTT magazine has a small article about a n or z scale layout that had been created and set into a custom coffee table.  If I recall properly, it was devided into 4 quarters, one for each of the four seasons.

Does anyone else recall this article?  I'm trying to find it to send to a friend (I know, it's a secret.  I do have someone I call a friend who models in n scale.  I'm sorry...).  I'm hoping someone can direct me to the month of the magazine to save me a lot of frustration.

Thanks in Advance.
